The ‘gig’ economy

Taking care of your career these days is an ongoing relentless requirement. Your organisation will keep reshaping itself to fit our rapidly changing world. It is the only way to survive in this fiercely competitive environment. Of course, in so many cases, we compete with and against the world, not just the UK. Your organisation may merge, restructure, downsize or form new alliances and partnerships. There is a high chance you may not like some or all of this. In many ways, what you think is irrelevant. Resistance to change is almost always a dead-end street. Success comes when you align with the direction of travel. Further success comes when you spot trends and hone your skills accordingly. By doing this you stay relevant. For example, when I decided to train in mediation skills in 2004 followed by business psychology a few years later I had no real idea how much these areas would be in demand in 2016 but I had a hunch and some good advice.

What about you? What is facing your career and skills? Not sure? You should know.

For example, have you heard of the ‘gig economy’? it is one of the most used buzz phrases right now to describe how the world of work is changing. I was at a business psychology conference and the Cheltenham Literature Festival in October. Speakers at both events referred to this term repeatedly. Check it out.

Find a coach who can help. I coach a limited number at any one time. I now have one coaching offering which is a 6-month arrangement for £10,000 irrespective of where you are in the world. Technology makes things so easy nowadays. Please be in touch if you want to find out more.

In the meantime I wish you every ongoing success and you deal with change whilst managing your career!
