Clive outside work

I hope you are enjoying the late summer!

A different theme to today’s missive. First, as regular readers will know, in a bid to achieve a better sense of work-life balance, I joined a function band just over 12 months ago. Some of my evenings and weekends are taken up playing bass guitar at different events. Now then, planning for the Christmas party season is well underway. A number of readers have asked whether our band could play at their corporate Christmas function. The answer is Yes! Well, date permitting. If you like the idea of having a live band to play at your Christmas event, just get in touch.

If you haven’t already seen it, click here to see a recent video of our band.

To see me playing bass to Jess Glynn ‘Hold my Hand’ click here (you’ll need speakers or headphones).

Second, as you may know, I am Founder of a not-for-profit organisation: Bridge Builders Mentoring. We are changing the lives of young males from disadvantaged backgrounds. We believe that a child’s potential should not be stifled or hindered based on their social circumstances. We are well on our way to working with 1000 boys by 2018. With your help, I am sure we can get there. Here’s how. Please could you connect and introduce us with Head Teachers/Principals and other key staff of senior schools in your network? Do we make an impact? Yes! Please click here to see how.

By the way do you know of a physicist who could spend time with a 14 year old boy with ambitions to work in the Astronomy field? Please be in contact if you can help connect us.

In closing. Based on our employee and industrial relations experience, we are asked frequently about our provision of a retained HR advice and investigations service.  If you want to know more about this, please get in touch.

Finally, we are preparing to run our biennial Difficult Conversations Survey later this month. Please help us by taking a few minutes to complete the survey when it comes out. If you are in a leadership role and please could you ask your organisation, department or team to also complete it, I would be very grateful.

Have a great month!
