Stress Risk Assessments

Employers are obliged to risk assess for stress, just as any other Health and Safety hazard. The Health and Safety Executive strongly recommend that such assessments take place at least annually. As an external provider, Globis ensure an unbiased and objective analysis and a non-judgemental approach to action planning for managing causes of work related stress.

Globis stress risk assessments are based on the Health and Safety Executive Management Standards, with scope to develop specific questions addressing specific areas in each individual company. The process is as follows:

1. Visit a team with paper questionnaires for employees (this approach is preferable to on-line questionnaires as employees can ask questions and make comments, which can inform the assessment process, and they are more likely to complete the questionnaires).
2. Input and analyse data from the questionnaires and produce an in depth report, highlighting the strengths of the team(s) and areas for development.
3. Meet with the manager of the team(s) and 2 employee representatives to feedback the report and identify actions which can help address the areas for development.
4. If necessary, Globis can feed back to the rest of the team, or the manager and the 2 representatives can do this.
5. Globis provide support in producing an effective action plan, drawn from the feedback sessions with the team.

For teams of up to 50 employees, actions 1-3 can be completed on site in just 1 day. For teams of more than 50 employees, the data is inputted and analysed off site, with the feedback taking place as soon as conveniently possible.

Overall reporting of the analysis from team stress risk assessments is delivered to service level and senior managers, to help identify hot spots, to share best practice and to inform strategic decision making.
