Equality Impact Assessments

How Globis do Equality Impact Assessments
When undertaking equality impact assessments of your policies, the following key steps are taken:

Stage 1: Screen the policy for its relevance to equality
If a full equality impact assessment is required Globis will continue with the following:

Stage 2:

a. Identifying aims
Identify the aims of the policy and who will benefit from it.

b. Gathering information and facilitating involvement
For data collection and evidence, establish what information has been collected and what further information still needs to be collected.

Identify what external and internal involvement and consultation has been done and what will be done as a result of this exercise.

c. Assess impact
Assess and analyse the policy in terms of the positive or negative impact it may have and its potential to cause unlawful direct or indirect discrimination, or whether any opportunities to promote equality have been missed. Consider the duty to promote equality of opportunity and good relations.

If an adverse impact is identified, consider alternative methods to reduce, mitigate or remove the adverse impact and promote equality more positively. Consider the obligations that your external contractors have when working with you as well as any organisations you work with (if applicable)

d. Action planning
Establish what practical actions are required to reduce or remove any adverse or negative impact and what actions you will need to take to help promote equality. Develop an action plan resulting from the actions above.

Carry out an equality impact assessment quality check to provide an audit trail for the equality impact assessment exercise.

e. Monitoring and publishing

Make arrangements to monitor and review the policy.

Report on the results of your impact assessments, including the results of consultation and monitoring.
